I am the lead designer for the podcast "Burn After Listening". I began by designing the logo—I was inspired by Saul Bass' work as well as the movie posters for the movie "Burn After Reading". Since the name is a play on that title, I felt it only fitting to relate it somewhat to that style. In the beginning stages of logo development, I toyed with the idea of burning paper and how it folds onto itself when the air catches it. This can be seen in the distorted variation. I settled on flushing out a gridded logo with fine detail. For example, the word "Podcast" sits inside of a speech bubble—a nod to the fact that a podcast is someone talking. The logomark resembles a lighter on it's side with the flame as the middle of the A. Each episode would have it's own logo variation—with the episode number sitting on the body of the lighter.
